Friday Focus: March 18

March 18, 2022

Our backyard makeover remains one of my favorite projects. It was during the first lockdown of Covid in 2020, and we really started it on a whim – I had an idea hit me and just went for it. Sometimes the projects or decisions made mid-project become the best of them, when you’re hit with fresh inspiration and you go for something that feels a bit risky because it isn’t 100% planned. Going for that bold paint color, choosing a new direction with the stone for your countertop, including a side project as part of your larger renovation — I say don’t be quick to dismiss those opportunities and consider taking the jump!

For before + after photos of our backyard plus everything we did (on a budget) to update it, head to the post:

I shared a tutorial here on the blog and Instagram on how to get high-end looking drapes with Ikea curtain panels. I use Ikea curtains all over our house and love them! Head to the post to read all about it + my favorite Ikea curtain panels.

I’ve been in the mood to clean our house from top to bottom & make a few spring-inspired updates around the house lately. Here are a few items I ordered from Target this week that I’m excited to use & freshen things up a bit!

Living in a smallish house means that every corner needs to be hard-working, and this corner of our bedroom has definitely been put to work over the years. I currently use it for my desk, or “home office” space, and this week I spruced it up with artwork I already had + the addition of this great chair from Zara Home. I love when a little goes a long way!

wardrobe additions

Thanks to Madewell’s Insider Sale + Instagram’s targeted ads, I’ve had spring fashion on my mind all week. Here are a few pieces I am excited to add to my wardrobe – subtle 90’s vibes all the way!

this weekend

Ty and I are getting away this weekend to celebrate our 10 year anniversary by heading down to Columbus. I don’t get there often and have a running list of stores and restaurants I’m excited to visit. One of them being Bliss Home Market – they have a once-a-month warehouse sale and it happens to be this weekend. Really hoping I can snag a few of these vintage pots and scout out some great furniture!

Have a great weekend!

Come with me as I work on giving Cohen’s room a Come with me as I work on giving Cohen’s room a little refresh! He was in need of a nice, flat weave rug (because Legos) and I was really excited to get this Henley rug by @loloirugs x @joannagaines @magnolia from their latest collab. I have these rugs all over my house because I seriously love them and they wear so well! More to come on this little room of his.

Uncover the back patio with me! After days of rain Uncover the back patio with me! After days of rain it’s time to let the furniture breathe a bit and open everything up to the sun. With part of our patio being pea gravel, the easiest way to get loose stones back where they belong is with our leaf blower - we recently topped it off with more gravel so it’s looking extra plush lately. You will find me here tonight pretending that it’s already the weekend 🥂
