My Home Office Plus a Boucle Chair Roundup

A lot of us are still working from home post-pandemic or have transitioned to remote work altogether. My work is obviously based out of our home + I do client work from the desk nook in our bedroom. While it does me good to get out of the house every once in awhile, I actually focus best while sitting at this desk, AirPods in and unlimited coffee awaiting me downstairs. Unfortunately this spot has been a bit neglected (as our bedroom is always on the back burner) and it has become a catchall for whatever I’m working on — not exactly the most inspiring place to work from.

I found this desk on Facebook Marketplace last summer and I love all the character and storage that it has. I hadn’t invested in a chair for this space and had been using whatever extra dining chair I had in storage. I personally like to cozy up in a comfy chair if I’m in for a long-days work at my computer so I ordered this modern, cozy chair from Zara Home and I love it. Super soft, not too bulky and the the perfect height for this desk.

I love being surrounded by lots of artwork and photos that are meaningful and inspiring to me while I work, so I grabbed the stack of frames I hadn’t found a place for and started hanging them until it felt right. I think this little corner is so pretty! But I have to admit, looking at this gives me the strong urge to paint the walls…!

If you also work from home, creating a space that’s pleasant to work in doesn’t have to be overly fussy. Start by:

  1. Giving the space a good clean & organize everything. Give every thing it’s own place until the clutter is cleared.
  2. Paint is magic. Paint the walls an inspiring color that speaks to you: do you enjoy bright, light spaces while you work? Or prefer moody and cozy? Lots of color or a neutral palette? Freshen up the paint on the walls and the space will feel instantly better.
  3. Hang a few pieces of artwork or photos that are meaningful to you! It’s a important to be surrounded by reminders of what and why we’re working hard at our professions.
  4. Add a lamp to your desk because ambient lighting trumps dingy, overhead lighting every time.
  5. Add scents: keep your favorite candle, reed diffuser or incense on your desk to keep the space smelling fresh while you put in long hours.

Our days are numbered in this little house of ours Our days are numbered in this little house of ours 🥺 all of the house showings, packing and move prep has me donating items + bringing in a few new things that needed a refresh. I added a new set of bedding to our room from @onequince it feels so luxurious but is also very affordable. I’ve shopped @onequince for a few years now and I’ve never been disappointed! We have their bamboo sheets and European linen duvet on our bed in the color Sand - the color feels so rich and beautiful in person. The duvet also comes in a micro stripe that I have my eye on…maybe for the new house! #QuincePartner

I have a few iron obelisks but I wanted to make some that felt a little more wild and organic; this was a super cheap project and I love how they turned out! You could even use branches from around your yard. Just hot glue and cover any joints with twine. Instant charm 🫶
