The Home Theology Shop is live! I was so excited to share the first Spring Collection with you all and your response has been even better than I expected. I’ve kicked around the idea of stepping into retail the past few years and have considered opening a store here in our small town or elsewhere locally, but our stage of life makes me hesitate to take on such a big project right now…down the road, once our kids are a little older, I could see myself venturing out and opening a brick and mortar retail store. In the meantime, I wanted to test the waters with an online store and learn as much as I can before I would take such a big leap to open a storefront.
I really enjoy retail and sourcing products for clients: vintage pieces, new decor that hasn’t yet hit mainstream and designing completely new items. I would love to do this sourcing on a broader scale and bring special pieces into a store front. My goal for the shop is for the majority of my inventory to be high-quality, handmade or vintage items that hold more value than simply filling a space in our homes. I want to encourage the habit of investing in pieces you truly love, that travel with you from home to home and may even eventually be passed down as family treasures. I hope to eventually also stock more affordable decor, textiles, artwork, scents, lots of vintage and furniture — all in good time!
Home Theology Shop
For the first collection in the shop, I worked with Linda Renee Pottery — who happens to be my mom! A few years ago before I started Home Theology I helped her with her Etsy store by managing listings, shipping, social media – basically behind the scenes stuff. She picked up pottery just ten years ago or so and has become an amazing artist while running a successful business. I obviously love everything she makes and have multiple pieces in my home from her that I get asked about often – many of them items where I said, “hey, can you make something like this?” and away she went, creating one of a kind pieces just for me.
This was a natural first collaboration to start with when launching the store since we already had a product collection loosely formed, she has a refined production process and we work well together (I come up with ideas, she’s throws all of the pottery, we make edits and go from there). The one thing I wanted to include in this collection was more hand-formed or sculpted pottery. The dramatic shapes on the Lena Bowl and Lena Planter along with the delicate nature of the Drip Edge Porcelain Dishes are exactly what I was hoping to create, and each piece is absolutely beautiful.

I’m planning on a vintage drop sometime next month, so stay tuned. I’m also very interested in curating a pillow line made out of hand blocked and linen fabrics.
