September Home Decor Finds: What Is Worth Buying Right Now

We can go a lot of different ways with decor this time of year, but my personal favorite way to decorate for the upcoming months is to purchase items that have a certain feel to them – but are not locked into a specific holiday. This allows us to invest in great items we can enjoy year-round.

If you’re shopping for your home this month, here are 4 categories that I think combine fresh design + the shift into the holidays:

colored glass

Honestly? Can’t get enough colored glass lately. It is time-honored and adds the perfect amount of whimsy. I am particularly into colored glassware (I’ve been collecting it all year!) and have already added quite a few blown glass vases to my decor stash. On my wish list: a Murano glass mirror.

faux garlands and wreaths

One of the best holiday decor investments you can make is in quality faux garlands and wreaths. You can use them year after year – well before and after Christmas – and are highly versatile: use them outside, on your bannister or mantle, add in dried fruit or beads, or mix them with fresh greenery for a fuller look. Faux plants have come a long ways and I’ve found some really life-like options now that won’t break the bank.

jacquard weave blankets

Very into jacquard weaves lately – I like the heavyweight feel, rich colors and fringe. And even though they look high end, they’re not too precious with their bright weaves and folksy feel. Adding one of these to your sofa for the cooler months instantly adds a shot of personality.

lamp shades

Swapping out your basic lampshades for something more elevated and interesting is one of the best ways to freshen up the decor you already have. The ruffled silhouettes and slip covered shades are my personal favorite right now. I’m considering replacing my clip on shades in the living room and dining room with velvet ones for the fall and winter – I think that would be so gorgeous and make the rooms feel extra special for the holidays.

What are you shopping for this month?

The jumping off point for our formal living room w The jumping off point for our formal living room were these two back-to-back sofas (Marketplace find, along with 80% of the rest of the furnishings in here!) and I looove the vibe in this room. Many more layers needed in here, but I’m loving where it’s headed 🫶

Our tv den was a casualty of the bathroom renovati Our tv den was a casualty of the bathroom renovation upstairs 🫠 Ty was pounding up the tile in the room above (we are gutting a bathroom because of a water leak), and the ceiling just completely gave way. We found a lot of water damage under here so I’m actually glad we discovered this. And SO relieved our kids weren’t in there at the time, because plaster and lath coming down is like concrete falling from the ceiling. Let the project creep commence

Hi friends! It’s been awhile since you’ve seen me Hi friends! It’s been awhile since you’ve seen me here. Here’s a big update on what we’ve been up to!
We are in the throes of an unplanned bathroom remodel (see video 🙃) and I’m trying to save the original marble tile floors we found under the old tile. Stay tuned!!

Our days are numbered in this little house of ours Our days are numbered in this little house of ours 🥺 all of the house showings, packing and move prep has me donating items + bringing in a few new things that needed a refresh. I added a new set of bedding to our room from @onequince it feels so luxurious but is also very affordable. I’ve shopped @onequince for a few years now and I’ve never been disappointed! We have their bamboo sheets and European linen duvet on our bed in the color Sand - the color feels so rich and beautiful in person. The duvet also comes in a micro stripe that I have my eye on…maybe for the new house! #QuincePartner
