reflecting

I looked at the calendar the other day and realized that our kids will be out of school for the summer in less than 6 weeks (!), which also means I am about 7 weeks out from the anniversary of my achilles surgery after I ruptured it playing tennis. Working out and staying active is a large part of what makes me who I am, so this past year was a hard adjustment. When I had my surgery they told me that it usually takes a full year to be “back to normal” and I’ve felt every day of that so far. I went from being non-weight bearing for weeks, into a walking boot for weeks after that, to slowly adjusting to wearing a normal running shoe again. I really didn’t start walking easily until 4 months ago and my right leg is still much weaker than my left. But in the last few weeks – very slowly – I’ve been able to run a little more everyday. When I was able to run a mile comfortably I felt like I got a piece of myself back. Our kids are diving into spring sports and Cohen is actually loving running; the program he is involved in ends with a 5k that the parents and community can join. It’s been my goal to run that with him at a decent pace (he’s quick!) without stopping to walk. When we run it will end up being almost exactly a year to when I ruptured my achilles. It will really be a full circle moment.
At this moment I am just so grateful that I can walk, run, lift and do most of the things I love without giving it much thought anymore. I haven’t been back on a tennis court yet…but I will be, soon!
design

I helped my mom with this little half bath last year and it turned out so darling! my favorite thing is the sink; she found this square, deep basin sink and we needed to comeuppance with a base for it. We designed it so that the sink looks like it’s sitting on a marble slab, but it’s actually a wood base with marble trim. And wall mounted faucets are always my favorite. This one is on major sale right now!
wear

I’m slowly pulling out my warmer weather clothes and I could not be happier. This blouse is so pretty and feminine – I love the shape of the sleeves and the wavy hem detail. I’m wearing my usual size but I probably could have went up a size. If you’re tall it will definitely be a more cropped fit.

I am so into anything with a drop waist lately. I think it’s a nice departure from all things empire waisted or with a ruched bodice. I linked a bunch that would be perfect for summer!
