Last Minute Easter Decorations & Planning

April 14, 2025

If you’re a last-minute planner for holidays, you’re not alone. Truth be told, the only holiday I truly plan ahead for is Christmas – but I really love celebrating all of the holidays. While I enjoy the extra time spent planning for a special meal or occasion, some of the best celebrations have been somewhat thrown together and not overly fussy. I think if the intentionality behind welcoming others to celebrate is rooted in sharing the delight of a holiday or milestone, everyone will walk away with their cup filled. Because guests won’t be coming for the perfect table setting or extravagant meal – they’re coming for celebrate a shared joy. So use what you already have, throw a few extra items into your grocery cart and start decorating! Everything I used for my Easter table was from Walmart, Amazon or H&M (everything is linked below); I picked flowers from around our neighborhood, used ribbon to tie around my candlesticks and napkins and pulled out table linens I already had. There are a few tricks I use when working with inexpensive decor to make a table look anything but boring:

volume

Use multiple items to create a statement. I used ten $1.97 bud vases from Walmart down the center of my table with long tulips (also from Walmart) and daffodils that I picked out back of our house. The multiple vases paired with the sparse, reaching flowers feels a little bit dramatic and a little bit whimsical at the same time. It would have also been beautiful to pack the middle of the table with taper candles. Don’t be afraid of filling your table and making a statement.

layers

If you have a tablecloth, place mats, chargers and cloth napkins – use them all! Layering your linens feels elevated, warm & intentional (versus throwing a tablecloth down).

color & pattern

Don’t be afraid to mix your colors and patterns. Resist limiting yourself to a single color or tight palette – if you’re working with warm tones, explore using 3-4 different colors and 2-3 patterns. Same goes for cool tones. Or, create a dramatic moment by picking a single color and color drenching your table with linens, dishes, candles and florals all from the same tone. And definitely be adventurous when using florals for your centerpieces – more is more!

I used this pretty eyelet trim to tie my napkins into “bunnies.” When Easter comes, I’m going to put Kinder eggs inside the kids’ napkins as a fun treat to start the day with. I shared a quick tutorial on how I made these napkins over on Instagram.

I used my vintage candle holders, Danish dishes and silverware to set the table. I really love beautiful dishes and enjoy using them even more – it creates a fun tradition. My kids know it’s a special occasion when we pull out the pretty dishes and silverware.

You can shop everything I used to decorate our table here – and have it to your door in a day or two!

I have a few iron obelisks but I wanted to make some that felt a little more wild and organic; this was a super cheap project and I love how they turned out! You could even use branches from around your yard. Just hot glue and cover any joints with twine. Instant charm 🫶

Uncover the back patio with me! After days of rain Uncover the back patio with me! After days of rain it’s time to let the furniture breathe a bit and open everything up to the sun. With part of our patio being pea gravel, the easiest way to get loose stones back where they belong is with our leaf blower - we recently topped it off with more gravel so it’s looking extra plush lately. You will find me here tonight pretending that it’s already the weekend 🥂
