Friday Focus: September 30

design: W Design Collective

October is upon us and I’m fully ready to embrace the cooler temps and the continuous holiday celebrations. I’m typically not big on decorating for Halloween but for the past few years my kids have really loved getting a few fun decorations to add a touch of spooky. When decorating for Halloween I typically go for the whimsical, not-too-scary decor that feels friendly enough to keep up all of October. I always buy plenty of pumpkins for our front porch, fun spiders or bats, faux spider webs for indoors along with lots of candles and anything else the kids find fun.

Shop a few of my favorite fun (and tasteful) decor items that won’t get old this month!

lately

September flew by for us! We started the month by going on our annual houseboat trip down to Dale Hallow Lake, soaked up the cooling temps and I continued to reconsider a few rooms in the house — which has felt like a creative breath of fresh air. Looking forward to sharing the projects I’ve been working on!

While tweaking a few rooms in the house, I order the softest rug for our tv den. It’s made of wool and viscose and seriously the most plush underfoot. I wanted a rug with less pattern, so this tiny white and beige stripe was perfect for what I envisioned.

marketplace finds

I go in spurts with Facebook Marketplace finds and lately they’ve been pretty good. I first found this 1920’s victorian stool that I’m planning to recover in mohair (those curvy legs are my favorite). And just yesterday I picked up this reclaimed wood stool with the most gorgeous patina (that top piece is 2.5″+ thick and as solid as they come). I had been looking at reproductions of benches similar to this for $600+, so to say I was excited to nab this for $40 is an understatement!

fashion

Hands down, fall fashion is my favorite. If my wardrobe consisted solely of great jeans, basic tops, great coats & statement boots, I would be a happy girl. This fall I am on the hunt for a long plaid coat and a few pair of boots to replace my tried and trues that I’ve worn for a few years now. Here’s a few that have caught my eye recently:
