high end design

I’ve been doing a deep dive into high end interior design lately. I think high end architecture is typically in the purview of what gets pushed to the top of Instagram or Pinterest – homes with great bones – but the interiors, to me, is what really sets high end homes apart. There is just something about the balance between dramatic materials, shape, form and restraint that feels really thoughtful. A bit more like artistry than homemaking. I don’t want my home to feel like a museum, but I would love a tinge of that high-end feel that kicks things up a notch. I know I want each room in my own home to evoke a feeling when you enter, that brings pause and draws you in.
There’s a few common themes in high-end design I’ve picked up on along the way:
a broader use of iron (rather than brass), an emphasis on materials and texture (versus pattern), and always a strong juxtaposition of modern and traditional elements – along with an expert practice in restraint. Ah, I just can’t get enough of studying these homes! Follow along with me on Pinterest to share in the inspiration:

I shared Cohen’s room this week and everyone is as in love with the paint color as I am! Covering the room top to bottom in Sherwin-Williams Delft makes this space feel like a total mood. For the rest of the sources & details, head to the full post.

We originally built our radiator cover back in 2019 before I was on top of documenting things, so when we had to fix the caning last week I took the opportunity to take a new photos and videos of how it’s put together:

I’ve done a little lighting switcheroo in our house which has left a few rooms without ceilings lights (oops). Here are a few lights I’ve ordered plus some table lamps I am planning to order for our nightstands:

The Studio McGee x Target holiday collection came out this week and of course a few things are already sold out – I don’t need a ton of holiday decor for myself this year but I needed to at least check the collection. Here are a few things that caught my eye!

Happy Friday!

Come with me as I work on giving Cohen’s room a Come with me as I work on giving Cohen’s room a little refresh! He was in need of a nice, flat weave rug (because Legos) and I was really excited to get this Henley rug by @loloirugs x @joannagaines @magnolia from their latest collab. I have these rugs all over my house because I seriously love them and they wear so well! More to come on this little room of his.

Uncover the back patio with me! After days of rain Uncover the back patio with me! After days of rain it’s time to let the furniture breathe a bit and open everything up to the sun. With part of our patio being pea gravel, the easiest way to get loose stones back where they belong is with our leaf blower - we recently topped it off with more gravel so it’s looking extra plush lately. You will find me here tonight pretending that it’s already the weekend 🥂
