holiday gift wrap
layer pattern – mix ribbon – add those special touches
Gift wrapping is one of my favorite parts of the holidays. I love planning out what color palette I’m going with, finding a few papers that feel really special, and tying them off with real ribbon and special touches like ornaments or greenery. I think it elevates the whole gift-giving experience and it feels extra thoughtful. Here are a few of my quick tips:
– Always buy a big roll of Kraft paper to mix into your patterned papers. This is cost effective and is a nice neutral to add under the tree. Bulletin board paper that’s used for classrooms is what I search for – it comes in 48″ width which is perfect for larger gifts!
– Invest in real ribbon and use it again next year! I love using velvet, silk, cotton ribbon or twine — and layering them together is always a good idea.
– Tie sweet ornaments or fresh (faux works too!) greenery onto your gifts to add that extra little something to the gifts your gifting friends & loved ones.

On Instagram this week I was a little overwhelmed with the amount of all-things-Christmas that hit our feed on November 1 – anyone else? Admittedly, I make myself wait until mid November to get any Christmas decor unpacked because I just love it so much. I’ve found if I get it out too early I’m so ready to take it all down as soon as Christmas is over. I like to make the magic last as long as possible while not overdoing it! But I still haven’t taken these little bottle brush trees out of our shelves — so maybe that means I’ve already started decorating? They’re just the cutest little trees that you can shop here:
Tile, tile and more tile has happened in the bathroom and it’s looking like this might become a finished bathroom after all. You can read about our progress of late & get links to the tile we used from this week’s One Room Challenge post. Only two weeks left!
As I’ve been gathering finishing touches for the bathroom, I really wanted a photo or piece of art that was meaningful for guests to see. I ended up framing this picture I snapped with my phone while we were making (another) Lowe’s run with the kids in tow. I think it’s the perfect reminder of how busy (and maybe crazy) it’s been taking on a project like this while the kids are so young, and that despite being tired – and sometimes overwhelmed – we wouldn’t trade this season for anything.
Happy Friday!!
