Friday Focus: March 3

Nancy Meyers’s personal home and work within movie sets remain some of my favorite spaces (and I’m sure yours as well). She has a penchant for traditional, refined and relevant interiors that are truly classic. Studying her work is a crash course on how to curate our homes in a thoughtful and trend-defying way. Using beautiful materials such as linen, wool and silk? Check. Mixing wood tones, furnishings and lighting styles with an emphasis on the architectural elements of the home? Yes please. An abundance of natural light and live elements? Always. I hope my home feels this lived in and thoughtful as I grow and move through life.

lately

This week I made it back to a sweet nursery project and was able to grab a few photos despite the heavy rain we were getting. This room, on the second story of a cape cod, has an attic feel with slanted ceilings and a dormer window, lending to its charm. It’s been a fun one to work on!

We finished up the wallpaper in our bedroom last week and I’m loving the depth it adds to the room. What I’m learned in more is actually more when it comes to interiors – whether you’re designing a neutral space or a room that’s bursting with color and pattern. It’s all about the layers of textiles, furnishings, artwork, lighting and thoughtful decor. And this little corner proves it!

antique finds

I try to get to our local antique store once a month or so, and this week I found some really great pieces that are still on my mind: 1.) if I found a set of these blue and white lunch plates, I absolutely would toss my cheap Target plates for the kids and insist they use these instead 2.) It’s the frame on this art for me that still has me thinking about it – and may have me back next week to snatch it up 3.) this etagere is a longtime favorite of mine that has been sitting in this booth for a few years; I’m always scheming about how I could use it someone in our home 4.) you can’t beat a sweet small vintage print in a pretty gold frame.

Happy Friday!
