Interior Design by Elizabeth Kannan

When designing a home, I believe that each space should have at least one room that is devoted to a relaxing and calm atmosphere. No matter who you are or what kind of life you live, giving yourself the space and permission to unplug is very important. This may be a bedroom, library, spa bathroom or main living space – whatever the case, being intentional about designing a room that evokes rest with muted tones, minimal clutter, no technology distractions, walls that are not-too-busy with plenty of natural light are an obvious indicator for those who enter what the space is for (and what it’s not for). Be sure to create space in your home that is free of the business of life for your daily wellbeing as well as connecting with the people you live – distraction free.

We enjoy good coffee and have tried every type of coffee brewing method, eventually landing on a few tried and true methods along with coffee makers that have lasted most of our marriage. If you are also an avid coffee drinker and appreciate items that are function + beautiful, head to the post where I discuss the differences between different brewing methods, our favorite (and least favorite) plus lots of links!

Peel and stick wallpaper is a hot topic and I shared our candid experience with installing the faux grasscloth in our bedroom. Be sure to give this post a look if you’re considering installing some in a room of your own!

While we’re on the topic of bedrooms, the girls’ room got a sweet new addition with this curvy top mirror from Target. I haven’t ordered much from there recently but this is definitely an item I can vouch for. Great size, pretty brass finish and no fun-house effect.

A few items lately have caught my eye (talking about you, McGee & Co. tent sale) and some wardrobe staples I’m rotating into my closet:

He was in need of a nice, flat weave rug (because Legos) and I was really excited to get this Henley rug by @loloirugs x @joannagaines @magnolia from their latest collab. I have these rugs all over my house because I seriously love them and they wear so well! More to come on this little room of his.

Uncover the back patio with me! After days of rain Uncover the back patio with me! After days of rain it’s time to let the furniture breathe a bit and open everything up to the sun. With part of our patio being pea gravel, the easiest way to get loose stones back where they belong is with our leaf blower - we recently topped it off with more gravel so it’s looking extra plush lately. You will find me here tonight pretending that it’s already the weekend 🥂

I rearranged the back patio a bit and I’m loving how it feels. Just a little reminder that it doesn’t take big bucks or an overhaul for something to feel fresh again!
