Friday Focus: March 10

Athena Calderone’s Brooklyn home has continued to be a source of inspiration for myself. Her approach to interiors (and food) is the inviting mix of traditional sensibility + modern form, while remaining unfussy and warm. I come back to her home time and time again but one space is a sure favorite of mine: her patio, and the beautiful flow between it and her kitchen. The checkered tile paired with vintage ironwork furniture is a beautiful take on classics that has me scheming to reinvent our own patio that we renovated in 2020. If you’ve never explored Athena’s work, do yourself a favor this weekend and browse through her beautiful home portfolio as well as her Instagram that features plenty of cooking tips and recipes to catalogue away for a special meal.

This week I picked up – yet again – a Facebook Marketplace find for our living space. I had intended for this coffee table to go in our tv den but decided to style in our front room instead. Watch here for my tips on how I quickly style coffee tables, consoles + the like!

I opened a can of worms on Instagram when I asked a question about towel hook placement in our main bath – I don’t like that I can see the towels hanging in the mirror, so I had been exploring other possibilities of where to hang the towels. The discussion divulged into how often a towel should be used and people definitely have opinions!

I shared a few practical items I used daily around the house, including our USB lighter, wine aerator and the large canister that houses our coffee – along with the wood scratch repair that gave coffee table new life:
