PLASTER LIGHTING
Plastered or gesso coated lighting is some of my favorites. It brings this raw, beautiful texture to a space without feeling overly rustic and the all over white, tone on tone of the fixture feels modern and timeless. Plaster chandeliers feel especially elevated and can make a room instantly a touch more formal + dressed up. These fixtures often break the bank so this would be a great DIY to tackle with a thrift store light or lamp.
If you’re not the DIY type, you can shop some of my favorite plaster lighting (at all prices points) below!
LATELY
We finished our ottoman last week and I’m in love. The tv den is quickly becoming my favorite room in the house, which I think is very telling! It’s moody, and layered with pattern and texture that excites me every time I get a peek at it. I designed this room differently than I have the rest of our house – I led with my gut and went for a few ideas that I’ve been wanting to test out that felt risky. I changed up the dining room this week (again) and this room is going to be my next contender for trying a few new design ideas — plus I am thinking about DIY’ing chair pads with the leftover foam from our ottoman!
When I get into a creative rut putting my hands to project always snaps me out of it and unusually sparks more creativity. I get messages asking “how I learned how to do X?” and my answer is always, “I didn’t know how – I just went for it and tried it out!” It’s very empowering to have an idea and make it happen on your own. Let’s keep pushing to be creators of beauty and not consumers.
We’ve been in full summer mode over here lately: spending most afternoons on the front porch, evenings on the back patio and making plans for swimming and boating on the weekends. We also have my brother’s wedding coming up soon which means fun parties with so much to celebrate! I don’t know about you, but this summer is shaping up to be just a little bit better than last years.
I got the itch to see our dining room drapery in Caroline’s nursery and now I don’t think I want to move them back! That sweet pattern + the other textiles make the room perfectly layered and feminine.
Her crib is 6+ years old now, but I found a similar one that feels like an update on the classic Jenny Lind spindle bed:
WHAT’S IN MY SHOPPING CART
I’ve been loving all of the recent McGee & Co. arrivals. I was actually surprised to see more gray, raw textures and a heavily neutral color palette! I think that allows for the lush green of summer to shine even more. I rounded up a few of my favorite finds here:
Until next week!
