I’m beginning to have more of an appreciation for art and want to incorporate more of it into our home. I love how the right art can really set the tone for the space — and if you would swap it for another piece of art, the room would have a completely different feel. It’s transformative! For a long time I didn’t even hang anything on our walls because it felt like such a big commitment. But over time I’ve learned (mostly through trial and error) what I love to live with on my walls. Some of it has been an investment, but most pieces are personal photos, vintage pieces from over the years and even affordable reproduction art prints. I want to demystify the process of choosing art and what frames to choose. More on that next week!
In the meantime, what questions do you have about artwork? Tell me in the comments on this post and I’ll include them in next week’s post!
lately
I seriously can’t get enough of layered, collected interiors. And lately I’ve been obsessed with the idea of adding a pop of bright, modern color into an otherwise traditional space. Rachel Halvorson has done this in a few of her recent projects and I am in love. I’ve mentioned lately that I’ve been really into bright chartreuse… so naturally I’m currently scheming which room to introduce some punchy color into.
Next week we’re starting on Cohen’s room! The kids bedrooms have been shuffled around the past few years and we’ve never fully “finished” them. Now that the girls are in their own room and Cohen has a room to himself, I’ve had fun pulling a design together that’s boyish and layered in color and pattern. His room is really small so instead of painting his walls a color we’re going to paint all of the trim and doors a high-contrast color. There are a few different colors in the running currently (all shades of either gray, blue or green) and some of the items I ordered to finish off the room should be arriving in the next few days:
food
I made these this week as an appetizer for a girls’ night and they were a hit. I even made half of them vegan — and still, so delicious! I didn’t have fresh dill on hand so I used basil instead and served them with honey chili garlic burst tomatoes. So, so good.
fashion
My favorite body suits are from Abercrombie & Fitch, so I’m going to buy a few more for summer during their weekend sale. I also have a a few other tops in my cart currently: I love the pretty, flirty shape of the puffed sleeve crop tops — and since I’m short, they’re the perfect length paired with high-waisted jeans. Peep what I’m hoping to snag for myself:
Happy Friday!
