Friday Focus: June 17

The sofa in our TV den is one of my favorite purchases we’ve made. It’s deep seat (42″!), has down fill and down wrap + foam core cushions (lends to ultimate comfort without losing shape) and is covered in a washable fabric that make it really kid-friendly. It is also affordable and comes in regular 96″ and 84″ lengths (ours is the 121″ + chaise).

I linked our sofa plus a roundup of other really great, affordable sofas below!

This little girl is growing up so fast! She was born at the end of 2020 so in the early days of the pandemic I had that crazy, early pregnancy energy and we did a lot of great projects. I think the first project of that year was our kitchen mini-renovation: we replaced some of our upper cabinetry with open shelving, built a new range hood and added additional lighting to the space. I have a weakness for great lighting and I went back and forth on whether to splurge on lighting in here or keep things simple. I ended up ordering these brass sconces from Amazon for $50 each and I’m still really happy with the timeless look and style they lend our kitchen. Linked below!

Since House of Jade Home shared their spring collection months ago I haven’t been able to get this beautiful planter out of my head. I adore the mini trellis and layered trailing plants. I’m looking to replicate this look for our front porch and have been shopping around for a few trellis options:

Thrifting and antiquing trips aren’t always successful but this week I had a great haul — including this vintage piano stool I bought for our bathroom. I did a quick reupholstery job on it by using an old pillow cover that I had on hand. You can see my quick tutorial on Instagram:

Madewell has all of their sale items marked down an additional 30% with code HEATWAVE. Here’s a handful of things that made it into my cart:

This is probably the prettiest room in our house. This is probably the prettiest room in our house. And I *may* or may not sit in here sometimes to hide for a moment of peace 😅

I rearranged the back patio a bit and I’m loving how it feels. Just a little reminder that it doesn’t take big bucks or an overhaul for something to feel fresh again!

There is a beauty and ease that comes with life by There is a beauty and ease that comes with life by the sea, whether it be on northern or southern shores. Seashells are a quintessential beauty that are worn by living creatures, eventually discarded for us to enjoy or broken down to become one with the earth. They’re a reminder of the beauty of life and how powerful nature can be. And because of that, I think they’re a perfect addition to any room – no matter where you live!

We started planning and renovating this space abou We started planning and renovating this space about two years ago and I have a few takeaways now that we’ve lived with it:
- so glad we fit as much shelving into this space as possible
- storing our microwave in here is 👌
- I toyed with the idea of adding an ice maker in here…kinda wish I would have
- the wallpaper was the best splurge
- removing walls isn’t always the answer (we split a hallway in two to create this space)

You can read all about this project on the blog! Link in bio 🫶
