Friday Focus: Home + Wardrobe Refresh

This week I mentioned doing a little bathroom update to our upstairs bath. It’s a tiny, historic bathroom with the original clawfoot tub from 1917 and I’d love to really drive that feeling home for the design. Because it’s small I want to choose a sink with a smaller footprint, so I’m thinking either a pedestal or console sink. That does leave a bit of a tricky problem of solving storage, but I think I may have solved that problem. This will be a lesson in working with what you’ve got while designing the space in a way that speaks to the home you’re in. I’m sharing more about it all on Instagram today — head there to join the conversation!

FASHION

This week I fell into current fashion trends & updating my closet with a few things I’m excited to wear. Before home design I was really into fashion, so it’s fun to occasionally dive back into that world. I’m currently loving a few trends that are an ode to the 90’s — fitted basic tops, distressed / statement denim, heels and gold jewelry. I love how these lend to a laidback, classy look. I linked everything I ordered myself this week including not-so-basic black heels, Levi’s denim a few accessories and my newest obsession: bodysuits. The snakeskin slingback flats I’m wearing today are no longer sold by Madewell, but I did find a few that are just as good:

LATELY

This week I shuffled artwork around the house and my favorite Holly Addi canvas ended up in the dining room. I’m pretty sure I would love this piece in any room, but I’m especially into how it looks layered against the dining room walls. This paint color — Woodacres by Benjamin Moore — is one of my most asked questions lately, and this photo depicts it really well. Now to figure out new artwork for the back wall in the living room! Right now I’m leaning toward a grid gallery wall; I really love a good gallery wall and I’ve always wanted to do one on that back wall since it’s such a focal point in our home. I’m leaning toward these oversized mat frames from Pottery Barn with tiny personal photos to fill them:

Since moving the girls to a shared room, you can tell that Caroline just loves being in the same room as Lena, and vice versa. This morning they both were awake early, just playing and talking until it was time to get up. I grew up with three brothers (who I love) and always hoped that Lena would get the chance to have a sister; I know they won’t always be this sweet with each other but it’s so fun watching their little relationship grow right now.

Are you watching the Super Bowl this weekend? I’m there 100% for the halftime show and food. I like to save my favorite dip for game days/get togethers and I am real excited to make it this weekend. I like to serve it with tortilla chips or Frito Scoops. Linked the recipe below!

Hope you have a great weekend, friends!

XO —

Come with me as I work on giving Cohen’s room a Come with me as I work on giving Cohen’s room a little refresh! He was in need of a nice, flat weave rug (because Legos) and I was really excited to get this Henley rug by @loloirugs x @joannagaines @magnolia from their latest collab. I have these rugs all over my house because I seriously love them and they wear so well! More to come on this little room of his.

Uncover the back patio with me! After days of rain Uncover the back patio with me! After days of rain it’s time to let the furniture breathe a bit and open everything up to the sun. With part of our patio being pea gravel, the easiest way to get loose stones back where they belong is with our leaf blower - we recently topped it off with more gravel so it’s looking extra plush lately. You will find me here tonight pretending that it’s already the weekend 🥂
