GET THE LOOK
We’ve had this coffee table going on 5 years and I still love it! I think the bold architectural element it adds translates well to just about any space, which is why I’m generally a fan of solid form coffee and side tables. They’re just so interesting to me. I get lots of questions about where this table specifically is from and sadly it’s discontinued – but you can shop a few others that have the same shape and affect below!
LATELY
Since Caroline joined our family I’ve been forced to face the question of how much I want to work. There are so many inspiring women out there who have built design empires from the ground up and often have followed the same trajectory: start small, gain clientele, when the workload is too much – hire employees, when you outgrow your home office – go to a commercial office space, and eventually open a retail arm of the business as well. I love watching their hard work pay off and admire the grit that it takes to get them there. I quietly watch and think, “yes, I can totally do that.” But is that really what I want, right now? In the thick of having babies? And when there are so many other question marks in our life?
Recently Whittney Parkinson shared on Instagram how she is a “one woman show” – which honestly shocked me! Her design work is absolutely amazing and is every bit as professional and high-end as the larger design firms out there. She talked about how she chooses to manage her work load while being home with her daughter, not taking every project that comes across her desk. I admired so much of what she shared, and I know it resonated with so many other women as well. What am I in such a hurry for? The number of years that our babies are little and under our roof is a blip in time in comparison to the rest of our lives.
The work will always be there, but our babies won’t be.
If you missed it, the dining room curtain fabric finally arrived and the curtains are finished! Click below for the fabric source.
I’m still loving the TV den in this moodier hue. I’ve been searching for affordable gallery frames fro the empty wall in here and found a few options that I was happy with. Plus- they’re on sale right now. Now to decide what type of artwork to display!
I keep thinking of painting the dining room walls + contrasting trim (if we didn’t have old plaster walls I would definitely consider using grasscloth). I really love this color by Sherwin-Williams but debating whether to do it on the walls or trim. The main thing holding me back is painting more trim and woodwork… not my favorite thing to do.
One of my favorite easy DIY projects from last year was aging terra cotta pots with lime wash. I think they have a timeless look that only get better with each passing season. I’m planning to pickup a few more when we start planting spring flowers in the next few weeks!
Enjoy your weekend!
